Google Forms has recently unveiled a new Google Forms Quiz feature! Now you can not only turn your Form into quiz, but also implement an answer key and adjust the Form settings that will grade the quiz automatically.
Creating quizzes in Google Forms has long been a favorite method of formative assessment. Up until recently, however, there has not been an easy or automated way to grade the quiz without the necessity of an add-on, such as Flubaroo.
The new Quiz feature exclusive to Google Forms is easier to use and just as effective for grading simple submissions, but the more in-depth grading preferences offered by Flubaroo are still not available through Google Forms. Therefore, if you are already implementing an advanced grading system an add-on can offer, you may be better off leaving it in place for the time being.
To turn on the Google Forms Quiz feature, first create your Google Form and add questions as you normally would. When you are ready to turn the form into a quiz, you will need to turn the Form into “quiz mode”. This can be done by clicking on the gear (“Settings”) icon in the top right corner and selecting the “Quizzes” tab. Turn on the “Make this a quiz” toggle. Here you will see many different quiz options and settings.
Choose the quiz settings you want to use and select any advanced or custom settings you want to implement by selecting the “General” tab in Settings. You can decide what grading preferences, submission capabilities, question type, return settings, answer key, etc. you would like to implement in your quiz. When you have completed this process, save your quiz and quiz settings and VOILA–you have now created an automatically gradable quiz in Google Forms!
